ProtEra has a strong experience in protein expression and purification. In particular, the department focuses the attention on the advancements of technologies for purification and characterization of novel proteins. Targets are mainly human recombinant proteins expressed in E.coli, selected for their biomedical relevance.
There is also a well established pipeline for high throughput protein production, and purification. This is supported by the wealth of information coming from the human genome sequencing projects. To help in the high throughput production of proteins, the department has access to a Bio-Robot employed to handle a large number of DNA and proteins samples. Our laboratories provide research-scale protein purification services including isotopically enriched proteins as needed for the NMR experiments.
In particular we are able to isolate a gene of interest, clone it in the desired plasmid, and express the protein in E. coli.
It is also possible to manipulate genes to increase stability, solubility, and to change the activity of the selected protein targets.
