ProtEra is promoted by the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence, some major Florence-based banks, the University of Florence.

During the first year of intense activity, ProtEra benefitted of a governmental incentive program for support to industrial research and extended its relations to other European companies and Universities through the program of Transfer of Knowledge of the European Community.
